For the software industry, as an industry in its own right and a significant enabler of innovation in other industries, the linkages between infrastructure and environment factors, such as demand and innovation policies are unclear and do not link to the relationships between the macroeconomic metrics, industry specific metrics and firm based metrics.

These metrics on the software sector within a nation are of great interest to governments, investors and businesses interested to know a country’s current ICT infrastructure, regulatory environment, ease with which businesses access ICT and the utilisation of software in everyday life.

The IISEIE research agenda focuses on developing these metrics and benchmarks for the global software industry, and together with the IISEIE members, seeks to build a better understanding of the dynamics of software innovation management for both future researchers and industry practitioners alike.
